California’s New U.S. Senator Could Be a Radical Communist Sympathizer

Kamala Harris’ impending resignation to become vice president opens up California’s U.S. Senate seat, and with Gov. Gavin Newsom under pressure to appoint a black woman to serve out the term, the top contender is a radical Communist sympathizer.

Congresswoman Karen Bass, a Los Angeles Democrat, isn’t just one of the most radical liberals ever elected to Congress, she has openly praised some of the world’s most oppressive Communist regimes.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Bass was steeped in Communism from the start.

“In Hamilton [High School] for example, a lot of the Jewish parents were activists and some of them were in the Communist Party. And so I grew up with a lot of red diaper babies,” Bass said in an interview published in the book “Black Los Angeles: American Dreams and Racial Realities.” “Red diaper babies” was a term popular in the 1950s and 1960s to describe children of members of Communist Party USA.

Bass then spoke of being raised among both Communists and members of the ultra-violent Black Panther Party. “And there were some African American parents who were in the Communist Party. There were teachers who were in the Communist Party. So, white radicals were very influential. And at the same time, you have the Panthers and the whole black movement,” Bass told the authors.

Bass was further instructed in socialism and Communism by Oneil Cannon, an infamous Communist organizer and publisher. An active member of Communist Party USA, Cannon ran a print shop in Los Angeles that published tracts and books to spread Communism in the United States.

Bass even eulogized Cannon on the House floor after his 2017 death, giving a speech in which she called him “my friend and mentor.”

“Oneil was instrumental in supporting my own work as a community organizer early in my life, and without his help my life would have taken a very different path,” said Bass.

Her speech went on to refer to Cannon’s short-lived 1940s membership in the socialist “Independent Progressive Party,” but she left out his later membership in Communist Party USA.

Bass stepped up her Communist ties from there, even traveling to Cuba in the 1970s to meet with Fidel Castro’s Venceremos Brigade, which Breitbart reports “is a communist front group founded in 1969 by Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and run by the Cuban intelligence service, the General Directorate for Intelligence (DGI).”

The purpose of the group with which Bass met was to train and groom Americans to spy on, and spread Communism in, the United States.

“Cuba’s communist regime used the Venceremos Brigade as a recruitment tool to co-opt American radicals as assets for intelligence gathering and long-term political influencing, according to a 400-page FBI report from 1976 based on information obtained from former DGI officials,” Breitbart reports.

Bass was said to have been considered by Biden for the vice-presidency, but her radical liberal record and ties to Communism may have thwarted it.

Already named a member of the House committees on the Judiciary and Foreign Affairs by Nancy Pelosi, if appointed to the Senate Bass would likely be named to key posts on committees with national security implications.
